Welcome back everyone! This is the second week of our new series, Prayers of the Week, if you missed last week’s edition, I’ve included a link so you can read it and pray about those requests and praises. Each week I will link back to last week’s post, and as I know more information, I’ll do my best to let you know how your prayers worked out. We come into this knowing that all of our prayers are very important, but despite all of our prayers, we also know that our Lord’s Will will be done. So now, let’s move on to this week’s prayer requests and praises!
Prayer Requests
- Continue your prayers from last week, but please also add Casey to the list — she left a comment that she is receiving a port during the week, so please pray that the procedure was a success and that she will be doing better soon!
- Please add to your prayers my friends who are traveling to Poland for their adoption of a little girl. Please pray that the Lord keep them safe and that their little girl is brought home safely. Please also pray for their boys, who were not able to travel with their parents.
- Please pray for the family of Stan, who passed away after a long illness. They need God’s Peace upon them in their time of grief, as well as His Strength to see them through this.
- The cousin of one of my Brother’s was recently diagnosed with breast cancer — please pray for her speedy recovery.
- Please pray for our friend as she battles stage 2 breast cancer.
- Pray for my friend’s Uncle John, who has a terminal stage of cancer and has been given just a few months to live. At this stage in his life, pray that he knows Jesus, and that Jesus knows him as well, but don’t forsake the body — boldly pray for a miracle cure so he can recover as well!
- Please pray for Sue, who is battling a form of cancer that keeps coming back.
- Please pray for Dustin, that his health continues to improve and that this amazing little boy can put his health problems out of his mind for good!
- Please pray for my friend’s Mother-in-Law, who is fighting breast cancer. Please pray that she is healed of the disease, and that it doesn’t spread.
- Please pray for my friend’s Papaw, who was recently diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment. I know what it is like to have a grandpa fighting cancer, so please pray for a successful treatment and many more years for him!
- Cindy’s cousin Tommy is fighting stage 4 liver and pancreatic cancer. He has started treatment, but even with that, they figure he has about a year to live. Please pray that he has all his affairs in order for his family, that he knows Jesus, is saved, and that the family will have God’s Peace and Strength upon them as they all battle this difficult time in their lives.
- For all of you that may be reading this that are in poor health, or unemployed (or underemployed, for that matter) — this prayer is for you! May your health improve, your job status improve, and may our country return to what made it great!
Praise the Lord!
Of course, there are always things to lift up to the Lord in praise as well! It’s important to give our worries to God, but it’s just as important to thank Him for the things He provides for us! Here are our praises this week:
- Like I mentioned, thanks be to God for my friends that are adopting a little girl from Poland. The road to get there is a long, arduous path, but the rewards for this family are immeasurable!
- Today is my niece Leslie’s birthday! She, and all the rest of my family are a huge praise for me! Not a day goes by where I am not blessed by my family, especially Cindy and Sophie!
- Huge praises go out to Sophie’s teachers at school! They, along with Mrs. Keech, the principal, and all the other staff do a great job at taking care of our kids and keeping them safe!
- Praises for our jobs and health, of course!

My Uncle passed away yesterday from Intestinal Cancer. Please pray for peace for my mourning family. Thank you.

Rebecca, my deepest sympathies to you and your family over the loss of your uncle. I know that the grief is real, I’ve been there with my Grandparents, and at this time, I’m praying for God’s Peace to comfort you, and for His Strength to descend upon you so that you will be able to get through all of this, one day at a time.

There has been a shooting in a town not too far from us – two little villages actually – the man has not yet been caught – he has shot 6 people and 4 of them have died. Please pray that they catch this man in central NY (the Mohawk Valley) soon!!

I will pray for this shooter to be found before more harm can be done to the people of your region, Becky. I’ll also pray that God’s Peace will descend upon all of you so that you will not be gripped in fear while he is on the loose. Fear is terrible thing, when you feel it intruding on your life, lift up your fears to the Lord, and ask Him to take them away.

Thank you – police are still in a stand off with the man – 4 are confirmed dead and 2 others are in critical condition – such a horrible thing for this small community 😦 To think they were shot at the car wash, car garage, and barbershop is just incomprehensible…… We are about 30 miles from the villages but many of my friends are affected. They all need prayers more than anything right now…

Thank you for that update, Becky! I’m praying for resolution to this, that there is no more shooting, and for God’s Peace to descend upon all of you so that your worries will fade away. In addition to that, I’m also praying for the families of the ones that died, and also for the two in critical condition, that they be healed of their injuries.

Thank you – at 8 am, police went in the building, the man shot and killed one of the K9s but police were able to shoot and kill him, so that part is over – now the communities have to heal 😦

Becky, I’m sorry it had to end this way, but you are right — now it is time for healing to begin. My prayers will focus on that for everyone involved, including the family of the shooter. When things like this, the only being that is happy is Satan, who is pleased that his work has led to such destruction.
May God give you all Peace, and Strength, to overcome the sorrow and help you all heal. We’ll continue to pray also for those whose lives are still in danger.

Please pray for my husband and our family he has Hodgkins Lymphoma and is undergoing treatment. We have a 7yr old son and please pray for him as he is dealing with dad being so sick. Pray that I am the support my husband needs during this time. Thank you!

I am terribly sorry for the disease that your husband is battling. With God’s help, he can overcome this! I’ll pray for healing for him, for strength for you and your family, and special prayers for your son, that he is able to come to terms that this is not a punishment, that his dad will be okay, and that he will learn how valuable the little things can be in our lives. In all things, I’ll also pray for God’s Peace to descend upon you all.

Beth, Dustin and all of his family (including you) have been in my prayers ever since I learned from you of his condition. The power of prayer is incredible, and you are witnessing what that power can do for those of us afflicted. But prayers are still needed so that he can conquer this totally, and live the life that God wants Him to lead. All things are done for the Glory of God, and curing Dustin of his illness is a very powerful way to show the kind of power that God has in our lives!

I hope that this doesn’t make me sound petty, but I’m really sick over this. I have misplaced my great grandmother’s ring. It isn’t terribly valuable, but it has great sentimental value to me. I would like to hand it down to my daughter some day. I have no idea where it could be. I’m so upset.

Yay Noreen! I was just going to say that your request was anything BUT petty. When a loved one is gone from us, it is our memories that sustain us, that carry us forward, and that truly cause us to remember the love we have for the person. Losing something that belonged to them can be devastating, and is not something to be dismissed lightly in my opinion! I am so glad you found the ring!

My good friend has asked me to pray for our country and for those that defend our Constitution and our freedoms. This includes not just our military, of course, but any official of the United States that is in a position to have to defend our rights. My biggest prayer on this matter is that anyone in that position would put politics to the side and step outside of themselves and think about what is best for the country, not for their party or constituants.

Could you please pray for my family? My husband has filed for divorce and we go to to court in April. I have been praying and hoping for reconciliation but it isn’t up to me. My children and I are having a hard time dealing with this and I am considering a move to help with the no longer wanting for him part. I really want my family to stay together and I believe God can heal all. Thank you for your prayers.

Oh Michelle, I am so sorry for the grief that you all must be experiencing. This is something that I’ve never had to go through, and something that I do not wish on anyone. While I do not know any of the specifics on why he filed for divorce, what I do know is that, if you haven’t been (although I believe you have) start right now and give up your concerns to the Lord. Tell Him that you don’t want this to happen, and ask Him to work on your husband to see the whole picture of what this course of action can lead to, not just for him and you, but for your kids as well. I know that God doesn’t want any of us to go through divorce — marriage is one of the three institutions that God created, and the most important one, at that. In my Bible Study, we have been studying the Epistles of Paul, his letters to the Galatians, Ephesians, Philippians, and Colossians, and in the books of Ephesians and Colossians in particular, he addresses instructions for Christian Households. I urge you to read — and to send to your husband, also — Ephesians 5:21-33 (https://www.youversion.com/bible/111/eph.5.21-33.niv) and also Colossians 3:18-21 (https://www.youversion.com/bible/111/col.3.18-21.niv). When I read those verses, I realized that I was convicted of not always treating my wife with the love and respect that she deserves.
Michelle, I am sorry that I am not more help here. I and everyone that is reading these posts will pray for you. The process may not be an easy path, but with God all things are possible, and we will pray that you and your husband will allow Him to work in your lives to save your marriage. The last thing I will share with you is one of my favorite Bible verses, John 16:33, in which Jesus tells us:
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world!”
