Hello my friends, and welcome to this week’s Prayers for the Week post. In this week’s post, we are diving deeply into the thought behind the quote at the top by Oscar Wilde: “Every Saint has a past, and every Sinner has a future.”
What did Mr. Wilde mean when he wrote this? If you think about it, we all descend from Adam and Eve, every one of us, regardless of whether we are a Christian, Muslim, Satan Worshiper, Agnostic, or whatever, we all started with Adam and Eve. When Adam and Eve committed the original sin, and let the serpent tempt them into doing what was forbidden, their descendants throughout time became marked by that sin. It was because of that sin that all of us to this day are born into sin, even a saint like Paul, or Peter, or John, or any of them. The only exception to this, of course, is Jesus, because He is the Child of God. So in Oscar Wilde’s quote, every saint has a past, and every sinner has a future, he is telling us that all of us have sin in our lives, even the saints, but all of us sinners have the opportunity to become something more, to reach beyond our sin, to put it aside, and to become a Child of God. How is that accomplished? By turning your life over to Jesus, by acknowledging that you are a sinner, that you need forgiveness, by asking God to forgive you, by acknowledging that Jesus died for you, and by turning your life over to you. The prayer is very simple, it goes something like this:
Thank you, God, for loving me…and for sending Your Son to die for my sins.
I sincerely repent of my sins…and receive Jesus Christ as my personal savior.
Now, as your child…I turn my life over to You. AMEN
If you pray that prayer, and pray with your whole heart, you will be saved, you will be a Child of God, and you will go to Heaven when you die. - Please pray for my friend Sherry and her health concerns.
- Mark — having surgery on September 25th on his arm and shoulder. It’s risky surgery, please pray for him as well as for his wife Jan and her Peace.
Prayers for Jobs
- Please pray for my friend Maureen who is looking for a job. She also has other prayer requests, so please pray for her entire being, her Peace, her Comfort, her Strength, her Family, all of her needs.
Prayers for Peace
- Please pray for my Aunt Ti, for her transition as well as her Peace.
- As I mentioned, please pray for Maureen and her Peace.
- For my friend Chris, please pray for their friends the Slagle family, who lost one of their loved ones suddenly.
- For my friend Nikki, please pray for her friend Denise, who just lost her husband. Please also pray for Denise’s comfort and strength.
- For my friend Tim, his step dad passed away, please pray for his Mom and her Peace, Comfort, and Strength in the days to come as she grieves the loss of her husband.
Prayers for Enemies
- Pray for those that put themselves first, and don’t look to God first. That includes all of us at some time or another, but please pray most for those that deliberately go out of their way to impede on the lives of Christians.
Prayers for the Lost
- Please pray for those that think they are above God, that they don’t need anyone or Him to help them in their lives. Please pray that they would wake up and realize that their life is not going to be any easier if they try to go it alone.
Praises!
- For the men that will look to learn more about God in the Men’s Study Bible Study. I personally give Praise to God for leading me to help out as an assistant leader. Please pray for me that I would be able to do all that is required of me to help these Men become closer to God.

Prayers for the Week 
Continued prayers, please, for my friend Amanda and her husband Daniel:
Good evening! We need some prayers. Daniel’s second round of chemo was delayed a week and a half but he was able to get his chemo on Wednesday. This round was extremely rough and on Friday he was admitted to the hospital for nausea and dehydration. He is still inpatient as they try to figure out what is causing the nausea. We have waited all weekend for an MRi to be done but he was never worked into the schedule so tomorrow morning he is scheduled for an MRI of the abdomen and an MRE of the liver. To this point everything has come back normal – blood work, urinalysis, KUN, chest x-ray, etc. So this is more of see if there is something because at this point they don’t know if it’s just the chemo or something else causing the issues.
Please pray that Daniel gets better and is able to come home soon, that his chemo regimen and schedule is not impacted too much, that Daniel has the strength to fight through this and that the clinicians are guided to what will help him feel better ASAP. Please also pray for Cate to remain strong and not be afraid to be honest with us about her feelings and concerns so we may support her. Thank you all so much! I will provide another update as soon as there is something to tell!
